We flew from Bristol to Gibraltar with our close friends, myself, Joey and Felicity. It was 10 days of craziness in the sunshine. The weather was incredible; someone in the local shop told me that it was where the wind had blown the hot weather over from Africa! And I can believe that as we went to Tarifa for the day (most Southerly point of Continental Europe) and we could see Africa! When we arrived (after nearly missing our flight at Bristol), I was greeted by my lovely Auntie, Uncle and Eddie dog! They made us the most delicious lunch of tomato pasta (kids LOVED it) and a one dish of baked fish and veg. Oh honestly! Why does food taste so much better in Spain?! Well probably because it’s so fresh! Random, but I never used to eat tomatoes, unless they were in a sauce but Spanish tomatoes have changed my life! I can’t get enough of them. With a little bit of olive oil, salt and garlic, oh my days. Anyway, I digress. We were able to spend some lovely times on the beach with the kids. And even managed to get out on the sea kayak over the waves! It was incredible. With a little help, I was powering over the waves and then before I knew it, I was over the waves and into the sea!...Then I started to panic slightly as I wasn’t sure I was enjoying this as the water was so deep and Felicity and Joe looked tiny on the beach. So I decided to go back in, I went over a few waves and was getting closer until the kayak went sideways and then I was in the water! We went to the local town Conil quite a few times and were able to see some stunning sunset on El Palmar beach. The kids didn’t get the memo about sleeping and kept waking at 4am, I think this was because we got them up at 4am for the flight! So we ended up keeping them up until really late and then they slept through. Most nights we had Felicity in the bed with us, as she could see us from the travel cot and was screaming “MUMMYS BED!!!!”. I actually didn’t mind as it was nice to sleep with her as we literally never do that at home. Me and Felicity are back in Cornwall and I feel like everything has been a complete whirlwind. We went to Bristol for Felicity’s 2nd birthday, saw loads of family and friends, flew to Spain, back from Spain, did a 9 hour long trip to get Joe a speed boat, a stunning wedding in Bristol and then back to Cornwall….and tomorrow, I fly to BARCLEONA with my girls!!!!!!!!!! Big love, Jessie x
