Kylie the Kayak!

We have made the big move to Cornwall and a big reason for this was lifestyle.

I am very proud of my 7 year career with the police, where I genuinely felt that I made an impact on peoples lives and helped to keep them safe or bring offenders to justice. However, I worked a lot. I loved it and left on such a high but I do want to spend more time with Felicity and more time doing things that I enjoy.

So when we moved in, the first big purchase we made for ourselves were kayaks. And this weekend was the first time we have used them.

Happy face!!
We launched from the Millpool car park on Sunday morning (Joey and the team had very sore heads from the night before). And we kayaked up to the house. I bravely took my phone with me and I need to buy a waterproof case for it ASAP! I phoned my Mum and she brought Flicky down to see us from the garden. Flicky was shouting "Mama, Dada, there!" and pointing. *Heart melts*.

Mama & Felicity!
We paddled (is that the right word?) around the river. Our poor friends were in our inflatable kayak, and it kept going around and around in circles (pahhahaha, sorry guys!). So they switched positions by our house and then it was a lot easier. They headed back to the car park and we paddled to the harbour. It was lovely to be in the harbour on a quiet Sunday morning. However, to get out of the harbour and back to the car park, we had to paddle against the tide. OH MY DAYS. I literally can barely use my arms now!
We moved exactly 4 weeks ago today and going out on the kayaks was the first time that I really felt the change. Relocating from Bristol to Looe has been a huge change, we left all of our family and friends behind, I left my beloved career, we left our first home and everything that was familiar and safe. But kayaking and having our first set of Bristol friends down, really put everything into perspective. We have made a massive change, but change is good. "A change is as good as a rest". And I am looking forward to more kayaking and more change and more Cornwall!
